Whenever the first beats of “Day By Day” play, we’re immediately back in Croatia, driving the mind blowing Dalmatia coast down to Sibenik, where LP is to play her next show. It was the summer of 2018, and many hours earlier, in the middle of the night, we had boarded a bus in some other country. To be frank, we dreaded the long drive that was ahead of us. But what we didn’t know was that it was going to be one of the most memorable bus rides ever, and for two reasons. One – the beauty of the unbelievable scenery of the Dalmatian coastline. Two – during that voyage we streamed “Day By Day,” by Swanky Tunes ft. LP, for the very first time. And okay, we are into LP’s music – no shit – so sure, we were excited. But being excited to hear some new tune is one thing, and being instantly and absolutely amazed with how good it turned out is quite another.

Two hours – LP had that little time to write her part for “Day By Day.” She got the track from Swanky Tunes, who had just written it on the other side of the globe, in Russia. As an experienced topliner, LP has obviously heard hundreds and hundreds of tracks from different DJs and producers, and when she gets a new track, she never knows what she’s going to be working with. But, with this particular track, the inspiration came immediately. She wrote the verses in the car when she was heading to the studio for a session. As for the title, “Day By Day,” which had been sitting in LP’s phone for a minute, she thought it would sound really good there. Then in the studio, she recorded her part with Pat Morrissey (who also co-wrote “Hey Nice To Know Ya” off of her recent album, Heart To Mouth) and sent it back to Swanky Tunes.
And the effect is really surprising. They managed to achieve something really fresh – an electronic ukulele dance song with nothing gimmicky about it, richly flavored with passionate lyrics. The ukulele sounds so good here – the way it got interlaced into the track makes the song airy and light, while LP’s vocals are just as intense as the lyrics. On top of the ukulele, Swanky Tunes used an indian shehnai oboe in the track, which creates this cool sort of dialog with LP’s voice.
Such a brilliant song. Such great lyrics! We never miss a chance to play it, it must be love… But we were thinking. If we were to marry off “Day By Day,” we’d definitely hook it up with “Come On And Get It.” We feel these two would make just the perfect couple – plenty to talk about, all night.

DAY BY DAY – POSSIBLE LYRICS
I believe I can get your diamonds
I know if I get you right
You’ll leave it all to me and overnight
I’ll arrive in a burst of light
Hold on, you can hold me tight
Don’t worry, I’ll get you out alive
All night, all night
We’ll stay invincible
We’re never gonna die
If it takes all night, all night
We can get to the best
Of the best but it takes a fight
I don’t know where I’m goin’
I don’t know where I’ve been
I know I’m gonna get there
Day by day
I feel a comeback comin’
This time I’m listening
I’ll see it everywhere
Day by day, yeah heyya heyya heyya
Day by day, yeah heyya heyya heyya
Day by day, yeah heyya heyya heyya
Day by day, yeah heyya heyya heyya
Day by day
Day by day
Day by day
Run so hard to get to you
Would sell my soul to get me through
It seems like all I ever do
Is run to you, run to you
You make me rise
Will it make me right?
Will you take this underdog
And put her on your side?
All night, all night
We’ll stay invincible
We’re never gonna die
If it takes all night, all night
We can get to the best
Of the best but it takes a fight
